An Affair to Remember

My cousin got married this weekend.  She and her new husband kind of geeky, so they're good peoples.  Even cooler, their exit processional was the theme music from Indiana Jones.  Even coolest, they had three cakes.  One was a very pretty traditional tiered cake, but I didn't take a picture of it because I was distracted by these beauties:

Featuring Han Solo frozen in carbonite chocolate.

Featuring an exceptionally dapper R2D2 and his bride, R2DTwoette.  (Try saying that without chuckling.  I dare you.)
The best part?  My cousin, the bride, made Han Solo frozen in carbonite chocolate and Mr. and Mrs. R2D2.  How cool is that?  Pure chocolate yummmm.  I got a Han Solo--possibly the bestest wedding favor ever.

My family is awesome.

(True:  I was chatting with the bride as she licked the frosting off the lightsabers and action figures on the chocolate-frosted cake.  She suddenly stopped mid-sentence, looking alarmed.  "I just licked Hans Solo's butt."  Edit:  It's Luke Skywalker's.  That might be worse.)

Wink wink indeed, Midnight.

  4. My little sister has now decided to steal the ideas of Indiana Jones exit processional and the R2D2 & R2D2-ette cake toppers. :-D She also exclaimed that she too would SO lick Han Solo's butt.

  5. First, it was actually Luke Skywalker's butt. [Although Han Solo is, admittedly, a yummier specimen.]

Second, for anyone who is interested, Han Solo and R2D2 ice cube molds can be found on thinkgeek.com for $10 each. (Availability not guaranteed due to their awesomeness.)

  6. fosterco: Sorry. Maybe next time. In fact, I was hard-pressed to share with The Squeeze.

  7. DaphniaB: Clearly your little sister is awesome. See Diana's comment for where to find the molds.

  8. Diana the Bride: Your name is quite a lot like mine. I almost called you Biiped, or maybe Bipedi, which sounds like you have very nice feet. Also, I stand corrected. Obviously I need to review the movies again so I can more easily recognize the characters in my geek-driven glee. :D Finally, aren't you supposed to be on your honeymoon? What are you doing here? Go play blackjack or eat french fries or something!

  9. Is it cheating to lick the butt of a cake Star Wars character? Just so I'll know if it ever comes up....it's good to know stuff....but it's even better to know cake-related stuff.

  10. As long as it's 1:8 or smaller, proportionally. No mistaking the little guys for a sex doll.

  11. Technically, the Star Wars character in question was not cake, but rather a small action figure. (You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a traditional Darth Vader!)
You'll be happy to know that, other than the occasional foray to Facebook, this blog was my only Internet stop during my honeymoon. Your review made our day!

    1. You know, from my brief foray into the horrors of toy-selling, I seem to recall there not being a lot of Vaders. I'm glad to hear I was worth a visit or two. I've been to a lot of weddings, so I feel qualified to say yours was pretty darn awesome. Congratulations!

  12. It always disturbs me when I hear about Star Wars themed weddings where they dress up as Luke and Leia. Han Solo and Leia cake toppers I can approve of, though.
