NOT How I Prefer to Meet People

I saw Magic Mike with some girlfriends yesterday.  Not because it looked like a good movie, of course, but because it looked like a good-looking movie.  I'll admit it:  I like a pretty shirtless man.  I also discovered that seeing a man in a thong makes me giggle like a twelve-year-old.  Especially when there are sock garters involved.

But I think what really made this movie-going experience memorable is what happened after.  The very instant the credits started rolling, the woman two seats down jumped up and rushed out of the aisle.  This normally wouldn't be any big deal, but she was in such a hurry that when I took .3 seconds to reach down and try to grab my purse off the floor and out of her way, she decided to climb over my head instead of waiting.  This struck me as a little odd, and I gaped and stuttered for a moment after.  At which point, she turned around, looked at me like I was crazy, and asked, "Are you all right?"

Honestly.  She had just straddled my head in a movie theater, and she asked what's wrong with me.

Sometimes, my life is so much more interesting than it needs to me.

(True:  I nicked my armpit shaving this morning.  I'd say it's the worst thing ever, but I had my head straddled by a stranger yesterday, which really puts things into perspective.)

    1. Thanks! You're so lucky that you were on the far end!

  2. Maybe she was in a hurry to get to the restroom? I'm sitting here laughing (at her, not you, promise!), and that's the only valid reason I can see to straddle your head...

    1. I guess that's a possibility. Honestly, it's not like the movie was so great she would have missed anything spectacular if she'd left for a few minutes in the middle. There were lots of long talking parts where everybody had all their clothes on. I just don't get it.

  3. Maybe she needed to get home for some....satisfaction? I don't know, but I'm laughing at her and at that gif you posted.

So what did you think of the movie?

    1. I didn't feel like it was money wasted, but I do think it would have been better if they had ommitted the attempt at plot and character development. :D

  4. Oh Dana! I'm picturing this and it hurts thinking about it! Was she tall at least? So there wasn't any um, unnecessary...uh contact with her um...you know? Oh no! Now THAT has put a picture in my head that I can't unsee!!! Sorry :(

    1. She was not very tall, no. Fortunately, between it happening so fast and my mad skills at blocking out things that are truly awful, I don't remember much about the actual contact.

  5. Well, no I have to go see Magic Mike. Because I never turn down the chance to giggle like a 12 year old.

But I'm making a mental note to leave my purse at home, thank you very much.

    1. Yeah, the dancing was great. The actual plot was a little heavy-hearted for what most women I know went to see the movie for, though. And the love interest might be the worst actress in the history of ever. But, you know. Shirtless men. Totally worth the ticket price.

    2. I thought the love interest was horrible too! And she acted like she had a crush on her brother, especially in the beginning. Did you think so?

    3. Well, I mostly thought she (the actress) was trying to act like an overbearing, disapproving, control-freak BIG SISTER. But she was definitely weird.

  6. All I read was the title on facebook and I knew what this was going to be about. I nicked my...side boob? while shaving my armpit once. Not pleasant.

    1. Dude, it bugged me all damn day! (And side boob is totally a thing.)

    2. Yeah, I can imagine! And then you have to strategically plan times to mess with it when it's bugging you, lest people see you scratching your armpit or boob like a monkey.
